Propecia

Propecia (also marketed as Proscar) is the trade name of Finasteride, a drug manufactured and sold by Merck since 1992 for the treatment of male-pattern baldness, as well as enlargement of the prostate. Proscar was introduced to the American public in 1992 and Propecia, a later generation of the drug, was available in 1997.

In 2015, it was reported that the clinical trials prior to the approval of Propecia did not adequately consider potential toxicity issues, and that researchers had neglected to include appropriate information or procedures to determine safety of use. It was also disclosed that those who ran the clinical trials intentionally underreported adverse effects.

Since its introduction into the market, Propecia has been linked to a wide array of health risks, from dizziness or weakness and abnormal swelling in hands and breasts to headaches and flu-like symptoms. Many Propecia users have also reported problems with sexual function, from premature ejaculation to impotence.

Finasteride has also been banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency because of its use to mask steroid abuse.

If you or someone you love has suffered adverse health consequences after using Propecia or Proscar, GetLegal has the tools and resources to help you find skilled legal representation to protect your rights.
