Crestor

CrestorCrestor, the product name for Rovuvastatin, is one of a number of drugs in the class called “statins,” pharmaceutical products that are prescribed, together with exercise, diet and weight management, to treat patients with high cholesterol. It has also been used to fight cardiovascular disease. The drug was initially approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2003, but was subsequently received approval for additional health issues in 2010.

The statin class of drugs has been tied to a wide range of adverse side effects, from depression, insomnia and dizziness to constipation, heartburn, cough and memory loss. More serious side effects, such as rhabdomyolysis, have also been reported, but are considered rare. Other reported afflictions include lethargy, loss of appetite, bleeding, chest pain, fever, rash and hives.
