Clozapine has been tied to a number of adverse health consequences. Research has shown that the drug can inhibit the production of white blood cells, a situation that may be fatal. Other side effects that have been reported include high blood sugar, seizures, inflammation around the heart, dizziness, vision problems and drowsiness. Approximately one in every 20 patients using the drug have been diagnosed with tardive dyskinesia, a permanent movement disorder.
