Advair, marketed by GlaxoSmithKline, is a combination preparation that uses two pharmaceutical products—Fluticasone and Salmeterol—to manage asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD, formerly known as emphysema). The product is available in aerosol form in both the United States and Canada.
Advair is what is known as an “inhaled corticosteroid.” These types of pharmaceutical products have been associated over the years with an increased risk of oral candidiasis, or yeast infection in the mouth. It has also been shown that Salmeterol may relieve asthma symptoms, but lead to inflammation and sensitivity in the bronchial tubes without warning, increasing the risk of death in users. Other adverse conditions reported by users include elevated blood pressure, heart arrhythmia, osteoporosis, cataracts and glaucoma.
